What Size Canvas Should You Choose?

Choosing the right size canvas can have a huge impact on how much you enjoy your Diamond Painting project and how beautiful the end result can be - Too small a canvas and you end up with something too lacking in detail. Too large and you may have bitten off more than you can chew in a project.

We know, though, that if you choose right, then you will LOVE Diamond Painting for the amazing, fun and relaxing new hobby it will become for you both now and for many years to come. So, here are a few points to consider when deciding on what size canvas to choose:

1) How big a project do you want?

There is a very big difference between completing, for example, a 100-piece puzzle and a 1,500 piece puzzle.

The 100-piece puzzle can make for a fun evening or two while the 1,500 piece puzzle will take even a seasoned puzzler a few good nights to put together.

It's the same with a Diamond Painting - Are you looking for a quick-and-easy fun project or are you interested in a larger project you can look forward to completing over a longer period of time?

2) How detailed is the picture you've chosen to buy?

Your canvas is going to consist of a grid with each square on that grid fitting one of your colored diamonds:

So, the larger the canvas you choose, the more squares you have available for different colored diamonds and, therefore, the more subtle shades and nuances it can express.

So, if you choose a simple painting that doesn't have very fine detail, you can get away with choosing a smaller canvas. But, the more detailed the picture you choose, the larger the canvas you'll want to pick:

3) What is your intention in buying this Diamond Painting?

The larger the canvas you choose, the more realistic and mesmerizing the results.

So, if your intention is just to try Diamond Painting out and you are not planning on framing and showcasing your final piece of art, then you might also not care so much about the pixelation that may occur on a smaller canvas.
